Chapter 1- I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-algebra Teacher

The first chapter of Percy Jackson & The Olympians, the Lightning Thief, is very absurd. Percy Jackson is a sixth grade boy, who does not know who his father is and his mother married an horrid man. Percy's mom sends Percy to a different private school every year because Percy finds some way to get expelled. One day, Percy and his school mates go on a field trip to the Metropolitan Art Museum. This trip was constructed by Percy's favorite teacher at Yancy Academy, Mr. Brunner. The class spent most of the in the Greek mythology section of the museum. Percy only has one friend at his school, Grover. Grover has some disabilities and is made fun of a lot. Mainly they are both bullied by one girl, Nancy Bobofit. During the children's lunch Nancy was bulling Grover and Percy when all of a sudden the fountain water snatched Nancy and threw her into the fountain. The pre-algebra teacher, Mrs. Dobbs, saw the whole thing, and called Percy back into the Greek mythology section of the museum. Just as Percy thought he was going to get double detention for life, Mrs. Dobbs turned in to a bird type animal and tried to kill Percy. Mr. Brunner turned up in the door way and threw what seemed to be a pen, but when the object got into Percy's hand it turned into a sword. When Mrs. Dobbs turned the corner and lunged at Percy, he swung the sword and hit Mrs. Dobbs. She was vaporized and threw out the rest of the chapter every one acted as though they had no idea who Mrs. Dobbs was and they thought that she did not exist.
This chapter was so exciting. I am so excited to read the rest of this book. If the rest of the chapters are like the first one then the book will be a great one. I am a huge fan of fantasy books, but this one is fun and educational. I think that Mrs. Shipe would love this book because she teaches us Greek mythology. Even though she says that Greek mythology is not real it is really fun to believe that there is a reason that everything is the way that it is on Earth. I believe that Mrs. Shipe would enjoy a whole knew perspective on the god's way of life, and i believe that this book is the way to see it.
